GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is intended for those who want to pursue a career in cosmetology. A student is provided with the general knowledge of health sciences, medical sciences, social sciences as well as detailed knowledge of cosmetology. The graduates are prepared to provide grooming, therapeutic and beautifying treatments. They know how to take care of a skin affected by a disease in cooperation with dermatologists. They acquire relevant skills that allow them to read the cosmetic ingredients in a product. They can determine their application, prepare and apply preparations necessary for providing cosmetic treatments, administer first aid, give physiotherapy treatments taking into account indications and contraindications. Graduates are awarded a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate knowledge, qualifications and skills necessary to run their own business or take up employment in beauty salons, spa and biological renewal centres, cosmetics manufacturing companies and as image consultants. They are also prepared to undertake the second-cycle programme.

LIST OF MODULES

  1. PODIATRY

    Podiatry is a field that combines some aspects of medicine and cosmetology, which deals with foot care for both healthy feet and ones affected by a disease. It bridges the gap between aesthetic treatments and medical interventions targeted at feet. It deals with diagnosing and treatment of feet defects, deformations and conditions as well as foot care. Upon completion of this module it is envisioned that graduates will have gained knowledge and skills associated with improving the condition of lower limbs, especially feet. They should know how to take action to prevent the formation of lesions, as well as plan and perform adequate treatments in case of existing conditions. Graduates can also identify feet and lower limb disorders. They can give advice on foot and leg care and promote the correct preventative home foot care. They stand out from other foot care specialists as they cooperate closely with doctors of various specialties for whom they act as partners.

  2. IMAGE CONSULTING AND STYLING

    Image consulting and styling is a field that aims to improve the whole image, from applying makeup which emphasizes the client’s beauty or hides imperfections, to choosing hairstyles and advising on clothing and body shapes. Choosing this module enables graduates to acquire knowledge and skills in choosing makeup and clothing colours suitable for a given type of beauty, advising on body shape, professional makeup, applying cosmetic and medical camouflage, theatrical and movie makeup, special makeup techniques and body painting. Moreover, having knowledge and practical skills in the fields of cosmetology, fine arts and aesthetics a graduate will be able to create an individual image that satisfies their client’s needs.

  3. COSMETOLOGY AND ORGANIZATION OF COSMETIC SERVICES

    Choosing this module enables the graduates to acquire knowledge and skills in the fields of economics, corporate finance, organization and marketing of health and cosmetic services, as well as spa and wellness services. Graduates can also plan actions and manage a team of cosmetologists. They gain skills of a leader in the cosmetic, spa and wellness services sector.

  4. COSMETOLOGY AND COSMETICS TECHNOLOGY

    This module prepares the students to work in the cosmetic and chemical industry. Graduates gain additional competencies in the field of technical sciences, in particular connected with all the aspects of modern technologies and production of cosmetic products. They also demonstrate knowledge of the quality requirements and legal regulations applied in the process of launching new cosmetic products on the market. They know methods of analysing and controlling the quality of cosmetics.

  • cosmetic laboratories;
  • pharmaceutical laboratories;
  • cosmetics sections in pharmacies;
  • cosmetics distributors;
  • cosmetic consultancy companies;
  • companies which deal with raw materials and semi-finished products used to manufacture cosmetics;
  • editor’s offices of magazines with beauty advice columns;
  • biological renewal clinics;
  • nursing homes;
  • public and non-public health care centres, especially: diabetic foot care units, specialist medical centres;
  • massage parlours;
  • orthopaedics and orthotics supply centres;
  • theatrical and film makeup teams;
  • They can also find a job as:
  • a stylist and makeup artist at fashion shows and events;
  • a makeup artist in companies which manufacture and sell beautifying cosmetics.
