GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students of this field of study acquire general knowledge of social and legal issues, which will allow them to carry out various analyses of phenomena concerning security at various dimensions (global, state, regional and local) in their professional work. This is facilitated by a thorough knowledge of the theory, policy and strategy of security as well as the national security system.
While getting to know the division and system of public authority, students in particular gain knowledge about the specific place and role of public administration responsible for internal security. Knowledge of tasks related to internal security and management theories allow the graduate of the course to undertake specific activities serving an internal security, especially in crisis situations. A broad spectrum of knowledge in the field of security management also allows a graduate of this faculty to manage small teams, implement and execute the law, including criminal law, communicate with the occupational environment, collect and process the obtained information as well as relay the information after prior hierarchisation.

LIST OF MODULES

  1. CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND PUBLIC SECURITY

    In this module, in particular students are prepared to perform public administration tasks in the field of crisis management, organization of rescue operations as well as organizational and logistic activities. This module includes the following content: local government system, national rescue and firefighting system, environmental safety, geography of security, border guards in the state security system, juvenile delinquency proceedings. The curriculum also includes content concerning communication in crisis situations and information processes in management.

  2. UNIFORMED SERVICES AND STATE SECURITY

    The module prepares students, in particular, to perform tasks typical for enforcement services responsible for security and public order maintenance, especially: the police, customs and penitentiary services. The program of the module includes the following content: international military relations, the police in the state and local government security systems, the armed forces in the state security system, secret services, command and operational techniques. The curriculum also includes content on: penitentiary procedures, social rehabilitation, customs and foreign exchange law.

  3. PILOT - ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (UL)

    (in year 2019/2020 on offer only for full-time studies)

    The "Pilot - UL aircraft mechanic" module is a new module that will start functioning from this year. The program of the module includes content that prepares the graduate to obtain an UL pilot and aircraft mechanic licence in the field of operation and exploitation of aircraft, which includes both modern technologies and means of information as well as the requirements of international aviation institutions which specify the qualifications and rules for obtaining a license by flight crew and engineering staff responsible for sustaining an uninterrupted flight capability. The module gives opportunities for students to seek employment in the military and police forces, fire brigades, chemical and energy industries, agriculture and forestry and in local as well as state government institutions (especially crisis management and response units) related to internal security. In addition, the curriculum includes major subjects related to internal security, including: combating crime, fighting terrorism, security geography and many more, building a solid foundation for becoming a specialist in internal security.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A graduate of this faculty can seek employment in public administration (as a specialist - analyst and mid-level inspector), in the internal security sector (in services, inspections and operating guards), as well as in crisis management and response teams on local, regional and central levels. Choosing the pilot module - ultralight aircraft mechanic also gives you the opportunity to work in military and police forces, firefighting brigades, chemical and energy industry occupations, agriculture and forestry, and in local and state level government institutions (including crisis management and response units) related to internal security.
