GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION
Second-cycle studies in the field of Education with a practical profile, fit into the field of social sciences. The study program enables the graduate to acquire in-depth knowledge, practical skills and competence in the area of analysis and interpretation of contemporary phenomena and upbringing processes as well as educational, care, rehabilitation, therapeutic and socio-therapeutic processes.
A graduate of the course knows and truly understands contemporary theories of upbringing, child care, learning and teaching processes, social rehabilitation, educational therapy, prevention, but also is aware of various conditions as well as modern methods and procedures for managing these processes. An alumnus of this faculty knows and understands the use of modern concepts of didactics and detailed educational methodology in the field of diagnostics and the principles of constructing programs necessary for the comprehensive implementation of educational, care, rehabilitation and therapeutic activities, including adaptation of child care and educational programs to the needs and capabilities of students, charges and pupils with special educational needs. A graduate also knows the principles and course of the processes of interpersonal and social communication in educational, care, rehabilitation activities, pedagogical and preventive therapies as well as their regularity and disruptions. He or she is also aware of the principles ruling the functioning of the main educational environments, their characteristics and processes taking place in them as well as the principles of designing and conducting diagnostic research in educational practice. A graduate will be also capable of taking into account the functioning and nature of educational needs of pupils and charges with developmental disorders. A degree holder is able to independently perceive and solve theoretical and practical problems in various areas of childcare or educational situations, social rehabilitation and preventive activities, he or she can identify, interpret and explain complex phenomena and social processes in the synchronic and diachronic dimensions, and the relationships between them using knowledge from scientific disciplines such as psychology, sociology, ethics or philosophy. An alumnus can forecast and model complex social processes and their practical effects with the use of advanced methods and tools. Students completing this faculty are able to correctly use normative systems when solving selected problems of care, educational, therapeutic and social rehabilitation nature, use terminology as well as research and diagnostic methods in the field of care, education and prevention, rehabilitation, educational therapy, they also conduct educational and therapeutic classes in work with various social groups. Graduates can manage the work of the team while performing professional tasks, cooperate in planning and implementation of experimental tasks in the field of social sciences.
The graduate is ready to fulfil the responsible professional role of a pedagogue, tutor, educator or therapist taking into account ethical sensitivity, empathy, openness or reflectiveness in the view of changing social needs. His adaptability also includes developing professional achievements, maintaining the ethos of the profession, observing and developing the principles of professional ethics and acting to comply with these principles in order to solve complex ethical problems related to childcare, educational, rehabilitation and therapeutic activities. A graduates role is also to inspire and organize activities for the social environment, in particular in the field of upbringing, education and self-study.
The program of studies includes two modules of subjects to choose from, which enable the attainment of an in-depth knowledge, skills and competence necessary to plan and manage the processes of education, care, rehabilitation, prophylaxis, educational therapy. It also allows to design and stimulate the development of students and charges in an individualized manner, according to their needs and capabilities.

CHILDCARE AND EDUCATIONAL PEDAGOGY WITH ELEMENTS OF EDUCATIONAL THERAPY AND SOCIOTHERAPY
The module includes subjects in the field of childcare and educational pedagogy with elements of educational therapy and sociotherapy, which enable graduates to achieve learning outcomes necessary in the process of diagnosing educational and caring situations, conducting therapeutic (compensatory) activities as well as preventive, supportive and mediation-based activities in relation to individuals, families and educational environments that are not able to independently fulfil basic social functions. The graduate is able to analyse the educational and developmental situation, interpret social and family phenomena and processes as well as individual qualities of the functioning of students and charges. He or she can organize and verify forms of care in the areas of foster care, emergency care, out-of-school care, care in situations of physical and psychosocial dysfunctions, care and support in rehabilitation processes, system care in the local environment, methodology of care and educational work within institutional, non-institutional, family and specialist support groups. Graduates can organize cooperation, design and implement projects of work with an individual, group and social environment.

RESOCIALISATION WITH SOCIAL PREVENTION AND ELEMENTS OF SOCIOTHERAPY
The subjects in the field of social rehabilitation with social prophylaxis and elements of sociotherapy enable the graduates to achieve learning outcomes necessary in the process of educational diagnosis and the construction of educational, preventive, therapeutic, social rehabilitation and intervention programs. Graduates are also able to operate in the field of solving problems in social functioning of children and adolescents from neglected educationally environments. The graduate is able to use the educational aspects of pedagogy and psychology in social prevention, he can formulate and solve complex problems and perform tasks in an innovative manner, in accordance with the methodology and rehabilitation work principles.
At an advanced level, a graduate can use knowledge of modern concepts of preventive and social rehabilitation interactions, in order to analyse complex educational, caring, supportive and therapeutic problems, as well as design and implement educational, therapeutic and social rehabilitation activities in relation to various social groups in a closed and open environment. Graduates use multiple tools to support a family at risk, including mediation and negotiation techniques in a crisis situation.

PRE-SCHOOL AND EARLY CHILHOOD EDUCATION
The module is intended only for graduates of the first cycle studies with majors in pre-school and early childhood education. Graduates acquire practical skills to use in-depth theoretical knowledge in the areas of psychology, education, didactics and methodology, allowing for professional performance of the teaching profession in the field of elementary education (pre-school and early childhood education) in accordance with the training standards for the teaching profession. They are prepared to perform the educational, upbringing and caring tasks of modern elementary education in kindergarten and primary school in forms 1-3. They can also diagnose and analyse the individual competence of children in preschool and early school age and, depending on the needs, construct and implement preventive programs, supporting the cognitive, emotional and social development of children. They know the procedure for organizing the didactic and educational process in preschool and early childhood education, with particular emphasis on the regularities that determine the effects of this process. Graduates know the methods and forms of work for the implementation of the didactic and educational process in the field of elementary education, they can construct teaching aids stimulating the comprehensive development of children in preschool and early school age, facilitate the correctness of the postulated span of cooperation between kindergartens and schools with the child's family environment and with educational institutions that perform care, social and therapeutic functions in terms of supporting the comprehensive development of the child. They are able to efficiently use the diagnostic and methodological workshop in the field of pre-school and early childhood education, conduct preventive and compensatory activities as well as diagnose and develop the individual abilities of a child.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The competency of graduates of this faculty enables employment in various areas of pedagogical activities, undertaken in care and educational institutions, cultural animation and social assistance institutions, specialist counselling centres, state and local government administration, health care as well as social prevention and judicial institutions. Employment opportunities include also positions in such institutions as orphanages, children's homes, community centres, therapeutic and socio-therapeutic centres, Voluntary Labour Corps, emergency care, shelters for the under-aged, police emergency centres for children, schools and educational centres, youth social therapy centres or rehabilitation and addiction therapy centres. Among potential employment options there are also associations and foundations dealing with social prevention and rehabilitation activities, courts – in terms of probation officers and probation centres for work with youth, correctional facilities, prisons, boarding houses, hospital common and recreation rooms, sanatoriums, prevention centres, day care centres, nursing homes, Family Assistance Centres, Adoption and Care Centres, Citizens Advice Bureau.
Graduates of the pre-school and early childhood education module possess qualifications that enable employment as a pre-school education teachers in kindergartens, pre-school departments, pre-school points, pre-school integration classes as well as a pre-school education teacher in primary schools in 1-3 forms and integration classes. Another option is also employment as teachers in a day-care rooms, in schools operating on the premises of hospitals and sanatoriums, as part of home education and individual teaching or individual educational practice.
