GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION

The First-cycle Administration programme enables students to acquire knowledge, skills and social competencies necessary for a career in public administration, both at the national (government administration) and regional level (self-government administration). Graduates are also prepared to take up employment in the municipal services sector and to apply their familiarity with law, administration, economics as well as their organisational skills in non-public institutions.

LIST OF MODULES

  1. LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT

    Choosing this module, students obtain knowledge and skills related to the organisation and functioning of a commune (gmina), district (powiat) and voivodeship (województwo). They become acquainted with the municipal management law as well as the rights and obligations of local government employees and officers. The curriculum also comprises issues related to the property and income of local self-government units, development strategy and policy, EU funds management as well as the functioning, development and cooperation of public organisations and enterprises.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    Graduates are qualified to find employment in: organisational units of a commune, district or voivodeship; municipal utility enterprises performing public service tasks; institutions and other entities in charge of the regional / local development strategy; institutions dealing with EU funds distribution and utilisation.

  2. ECONOMIC ADMINISTRATION

    This module enables students to obtain competencies relevant to a career in financial and economic administration. They acquire knowledge and skills related to Polish, international and EU tax systems, fiscal penal law, customs and foreign exchange law. Students also get familiar with the principles and techniques of financial, budgetary and tax accounting as well as with international standards for accounting and financial reporting. Furthermore, the module entails such issues as tax administration and fiscal control, tax analysis and register, and social security scheme.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    Graduates are qualified to find employment in: tax administration units and social insurance institutions; public and private enterprises holding positions in the personnel and payroll department; entities providing consulting services and assistance in creating and expanding a business as well as in observing tax and social insurance laws.
